Traders should always know when they plan to enter or exit a trade before they execute. By using stop losses effectively, a trader can minimize not only losses, but also the number of times a trade is exited needlessly. Make your battle plan ahead of time so you'll already know you've won the war.

Stop-loss (S/L) and take-profit (T/P) points represent two key ways in which traders can plan ahead when trading. Successful traders know what price they are willing to pay and at what price they are willing to sell, and they measure the resulting returns against the probability of the stock hitting their goals. If the adjusted return is high enough, then they execute the trade.

As Chinese military general Sun Tzu's famously said: "Every battle is won before it is fought." The phrase implies that planning and strategy - not the battles - win wars. Similarly, successful traders commonly quote the phrase: "Plan the trade and trade the plan." Just like in war, planning ahead can often mean the difference between success and failure.

The second component of cash flow leverage is total outstanding debt. For the purposes of this calculation, debt refers to financial liabilities that have a formal or written financing agreement. That means that total debt includes short-term and long-term borrowings such as notes, loans and bonds, but excludes other liabilities. For example, accounts payable, interest payable and deferred revenue would not be included in the calculation. To calculate total debt, add the outstanding balance in any note payable, bond payable and loan accounts on the balance sheet.

The cash flow leverage ratio is similar to the return on debt ratio. The primary difference is that the cash flow leverage ratio evaluates cash flows rather than net income. Because of the way accrual accounting works, a business can have a high amount of net income, but still be unable to pay its bills if it has trouble actually collecting cash from customers. Creditors often are more interested in net cash flows rather than net income because it's a better indicator of available resources.

One component of the cash flow leverage ratio is operating cash flows. A company can receive cash flows from operations, financing or investing activities. Much financial analysis focuses on cash flows from operations, because it represents cash flows from core business activities that the company can hopefully duplicate in future years. To calculate operational cash flow, add all cash received from operations -- generally, cash from sales of products and services -- and subtract operational cash outflows like payments to vendors, salaries, interest, rents, taxes, insurance and supplies. The difference is operating cash flow. For example, if cash receipts were $900,000 and cash payments were $400,000, the operating cash flow is $500,000.

It can also be one of the more difficult things about being a freelancer. You don’t want to charge too low a fee, or you won’t make enough money and people might not think you’re very good at what you do. On the other hand, you don’t want to have the most expensive rate either as you might get looked over for a more budget-friendly option. It’s kind of like the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears – you want your rate to be “just right.”

If your work is riddled with grammatical errors (beyond the occasional typo), you will have a hard time asking a higher rate as a freelance writer. A freelance graphic designer whose work looks fast and cluttered will not be paid as highly as someone with crisp, professional work. Pay attention to the quality of work; if you want to ask for more, do what you can to improve it. This might include taking classes, taking more time on each project, or just practicing.

After taking all these factors into consideration, you should be able to set a general range for your freelance services, and then you can negotiate on a per-client basis based on that. Do you have tips for setting freelance rates? Please share them below.

Also realize that the rate might be different in your niche, and from different sites. In the personal finance blogging space, I’ve found that a big name site can pay a lot more than a blog run by someone with a day job. Take that into consideration when quoting a price.

Your training also makes a difference. Someone with the right background and expertise can make more as a freelancer than another person who may not have the same credentials. I may not be a financial professional, but my long experience and research in the field has helped. Plus, my training as a journalist has provided me with research, interview, and writing skills that some find valuable.

You should also be aware of whether your freelance industry charges by the hour, or uses some other rate. Graphic designers, for example, often charge by the hour, or by the project. Freelance bloggers are often paid by the post (depending on the word count). Knowing the going market rate per unit of work performed is an important part of setting your rates.

Sometimes, compensation comes in more than just a per-unit rate. I am sometimes willing to negotiate a lower per-post rate if I am offered a traffic bonus, or if there is a revenue sharing plan in place. One of my clients lets me keep everything I earn from AdSense, in addition to a flat per-post rate. Consider what else is being offered, and negotiate based on that. If you are being offered a travel account, or if you have the potential to earn more based on traffic and other factors, it might be worth it to take slightly lower up-front pay.

Position: Long Position on Straddle (Long ATM Call and Put) at inception. With each move in underlying price, additional position on underlying is taken to keep the portfolio delta hedged.

This from above stimulation it could be seen that by just holding Straddle position where we would have booked loss -1.14$ due to Theta, we had made the profit of 0.52$ by using Gamma Scalping.

Above two points are well illustrated in fig: Straddle position PnL.

Gamma Scalping is Option trading strategy which got its share of recognition way back in 1980’s along with increasing popularity of Options as financial instruments itself. It was introduced by Option Market Makers as a hedging strategy for their open positions.

To get the better understanding on how re-hedging Delta impacts our PnL, let’s look at below hypothetical stimulation. We started with Long ATM Straddle with maturity 30 days. Option prices are calculated using Black-Scholes Model and we assumed that there is no transaction cost and Delta re-hedge is done at each day’s closing price.

Hi jasmeet, nice explanation of gamma scalping. My question, is there any equation to tell how many predefined price moves require to cover x amount of theta i:e if my theta cost is rs40000 per day how many up/dow moves of 25 point will require to cover my theta cost

Risk: Theta loss: We are taking long Straddle position i.e buying two ATM options, so if the underlying price doesn’t move significantly, we might loose on the time value of the option (theta loss) i.e. options premium.

Another way to drive traffic to your affiliate promotions and landing pages. The benefit here is that they are usually less strict than PPC sites (i.e. you can usually directly link to an affiliate offer). It’s a different beast though, from what I’ve been told, so it’s best to do a little bit of research before you spend money on PPV traffic.

The term is “crowdfunding”…and you can see it in action on kickstarter.com

Social networking and social media is a great way to share your content, gain followers, and in general, increase your presence online. There are, however, ways to make money by sharing someone else’s content with your followers via Twitter. I generally don’t consider this to be a great way to make money online, but it can be lucrative for those who have a big following. (Side note: I tried to see if there was a way to sell Facebook “likes” or get paid to share content on Facebook, and couldn’t find anything.)

Thanks for this list! You mentioned all the famous ways of making money online. basically this has become trademark to earn money online in lifestyle. I agree that sites like Fiverr are goldmine. Are you ready to go way down the rabbit hole? Sinclair has a ton of heavy math, along with real-world examples. This book brings insight into how hedge funds and derivatives desks actually play the options market. There's a good chapter on how to properly plan your trades, and a surprising amount of insight into trading psychology.

Anything by Jeff Augen is worth a read. This particular text goes a bit more into the nasty bits of options trading-- namely defining volatility and managing trades. This goes a bit more into the quantitative side, which can be fun if you know your way around excel or R.

Creating trading success also has to come from many angles. When I am asked about what option trading books to read, it's complicated. With that in mind, here is my list of recommended trading books.

I believe one of the most underutilized forms of analysis is market profile. It's a dark art, and there isn't much literature on it. But this book is a must read. It's a struggle to read at times but I often review chapters every so often to understand the short term market.

This is the bible of options trading. It's tough to get through and sometimes sections won't apply to your trading style, but it's great to have on hand as a reference, especially if you have a longer term timeframe in mind.

Treat this book like a daily devotional. Dr. Brett smartly broke up the book into 101 lessons. Read one lesson per day and see how you could implement it in your trading. Continual, incremental self-improvement will do wonders for your performance.

Option Volatility and Pricing - Natenberg This is my "go-to" book for new option traders. Natenberg does a good job explaining option trading through the lens of volatility, which is a perspective many don't think about when they start to trade options. This also has the full listing of basic option strategies and management techniques associated with them.

I was a little hesitant to put this one on here. I'm a card carrying member of the Cult of Tim Ferriss, and I don't mind saying it. What's good about this book is that it focuses on elimination. 80% of your trading gains will come from 20% of your perceived market information. If you focus on that 20% and remove all the extraneous stuff

This price was $0.02 less than the mid-point of the option spread when TRU was trading just above $45. Unless the stock rallies quickly from here, you should be able to get close to this amount.

This week we are featuring a company listed on the Investor’s Business Daily (IBD) Top 50 List. We use this list in one of our portfolios to target outperforming stocks and look to place options spreads that take advantage of the underlying trend..

A spokesperson for Tesco said: “Earlier this year we announced a pay increase of up to 3.1% for colleagues working in our stores across the UK, in addition to a 5% turnaround bonus. As part of the pay negotiations we also agreed to simplify premium payments to ensure a fair and consistent approach for all colleagues. The minority of colleagues who were negatively impacted by this change were supported with an agreed lump sum transition payment.”

A group of 17 long-serving employees, who joined Tesco before 1999, are fighting the cut in wages introduced in July this year. Lawyers believe up to 38,000 staff who are paid by the hour could be affected.

Leigh Day, the legal firm acting for the claimants, has written to Tesco asking them how many of Tesco’s staff who are paid by the hour – who are mostly over 40 years old – are affected. All staff taken on before 5 July 1999 have seen their benefits reduced.

Leigh Day said it is also representing thousands of employees in discrimination claims against Asda and Sainsbury’s.

Many longer-serving employees had their pay and benefits cut in July as a result of new rules negotiated by their union

A similar dispute is simmering at Marks & Spencer, which reduced the earnings of about 10% of its shop-floor workers by cutting premium payments for those working antisocial hours in July.

Stacks are used to display and analyze images that are related to each other in some way, such as by time (temporal), space (spatial), or color (spectral). Stacking temporal images allows you to animate them — to rapidly display them in sequence — making changes over time easier to see and understand, and allowing you to precisely measure the same regions of the image over time. Stacks of spatial data can be animated and measured, but you can also use ImageJ to construct entirely new views of features in the images. Using spectral data, you can use ImageJ to create both natural and false color views of a scene.

Stacks can be saved in several formats, including animated gif for web display and, with the appropriate software installed, QuickTime movie format.

To stack a set of images, they must all be the same width, height, and bit depth. The number and size of the images you can stack depend on the amount of memory in your computer.

The algorithms are intended to provide traders with speed, liquidity and the desired degree of exposure, using Citi’s proprietary smart routing logic, which provides liquidity and price improvement while avoiding information leakage.

NEW YORK (Reuters) – A year after Goldman Sachs bungled a software upgrade and lost tens of millions of dollars from unintended trades, the 12 U.S. stock options exchanges have crafted new rules for dealing with erroneous transactions, according to draft documents seen by Reuters.

Fellow bulge bracket bank Credit Suisse recently launched in the Asia-Pacific region AES Guerrilla 2012, an agile trading strategy to assist investors in sourcing liquidity.

“The intended users of the new option algos are buy-side traders looking to intelligently work option orders systematically using Citi’s advanced algorithmic logic,” said Kevin Murphy, head of U.S. options electronic execution at bulge bracket bank Citi. “Traders get the added benefit of having each ‘child’ order eligible for liquidity and price improvement opportunities via Citi’s proprietary smart order router.”

The options space is a comparatively late arrival to cutting-edge trading techniques, but it is catching up. Continue reading →

Stay on the wall and do as many zigzags as you can!Just tap the screen to change the direction of the ball. Try not to fall off the edges! How far can you go?

Zigzag is a very fun game I play almost everyday! Not only is it addictive and cool, but it's also a great time killer! Whether you have to wait at a doctors office, or play the game till you get tired and fall asleep, it's the best game to play if you want a challenge! I just started playing and already have a high score of 79! This game is also great for a break at work or if you're just bored and hungry for a satisfying game. I think it's also great exercise for the brain and timing when you have to tap the screen to move the little black ball left to right. I encourage people to get this game because it's great for all ages who have an addiction to fun games like this one. Another thing I admire about Zigzag is how the little ramp where the ball rolls on changes colors as you move on! It's very colorful and pretty. In my opinion, the best time to play is when you're curled up in the couch or in bed, recovering from a long, stressful day! I love relaxing and plying this game. The last reason why I love Zigzag (if I listed all of my reasons, this review would be the size of America) is because of the clean, fresh look. It may sound weird, but even the sounds he ball makes is nice and cool! In summation, Zigzag is an excellent game, and another Ketchapp game I like is Trio, which also extraordinary!
