Trend Trading Billions
a) The first target was hit before expiry, so Erica gets 8% payout from this trade.
b) Choosing several price levels that would constitute the rungs of the ladder as it were.
a) The pivot points: By using the daily pivot points or prices located in between them, it is possible for a trader to set at least two or three areas where the asset price will definitely breach. For instance, if the trader is required to set 6 price levels that each pay the same equity for a 78% payout, and he ends up achieving two strikes, that would translate into a payout of 26% which is not bad. Earning 26% is always better than earning zero.
b) The second target was not hit by expiry, so Erica gets 0% for that target.
With the ladder trade, a trader can always get something from the trade if the price levels and expiries are set correctly.
c) The third target was hit but not before expiry, so again Erica gets 0% for that target.
c) Selecting appropriate expiry times for each price level.
Notice we did not say predicting the direction of the asset price. This is because the ladder trade is not all about price direction but rather price behavior. There are times when the asset may experience a move in one direction followed by a retracement, and then resume its prior trend. At other times, the price of the asset may experience choppy movement with no defined direction. If a trader is able to predict to some degree of certainty the behavior of the asset, then this can form the basis for the next step in the process of setting the ladder bet.

Consider these tips to find the best day trading indicator(s) for you.
The MACD, RSI, moving average, Bollinger Bands, stochastics, and the list goes on, but what are the best technical indicators for day trading? Day traders need to act quickly, so trying to monitor too many indicators becomes time consuming, counter productive and is actually likely to deteriorate performance. When day trading--whether stocks, forex or futures--keep it simple. Use only a couple indicators, maximum, or not using any is fine too.
While they may appear slightly different, usually just using one is enough. Having all three on your chart isn't going to improve the odds of your trades, because all these indicators are going to give you pretty much the same information most of the time.

The main creator of arbitrage opportunity used to be a lack of real-time communication about prices in other markets, but modern technology has reduced the number of arbitrage opportunities out there. The relatively few arbitrage opportunities that do exist are elusive and don't last for long -- when people realize that a security is cheaper in one market than another, their interest in exploiting the opportunity will drive up the price of the "cheap" security and drive down the price of the "expensive" security until there is no longer a price difference. In this manner, arbitrage does a good job of ensuring equilibrium in the markets.
Arbitrageurs also try to exploit price differences created by mergers. In some cases, they purchase the shares of companies that are the targets of purchase offers, hoping to pocket the difference between the trading price and the eventual cash payment resulting from the merger. Even though this type of strategy is referred to as "arbitrage," it's a bit of a misnomer because there's always a risk that a merger will not actually happen. Because it's not risk-free, merger arbitrage is not "arbitrage" in its truest sense.
For example, if Company XYZ's stock trades at $5.00 per share on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and the equivalent of $5.05 on the London Stock Exchange (LSE), an arbitrageur would purchase the stock for $5 on the NYSE and sell it on the LSE for $5.05 -- pocketing the difference of $0.05 per share.
Theoretically, the prices on both exchanges should be the same at all times, but arbitrage opportunities arise when they're not. In theory, arbitrage is a riskless activity because traders are simply buying and selling the same amount of the same asset at the same time. For this reason, arbitrage is often referred to as "riskless profit."
Of course, small investors and entrepreneurs take advantage of much smaller arbitrage opportunities every single day. For example, if you've ever purchased a bargain-priced item at a garage sale or flea market, and then sold that item for a higher price on eBay, then you've profited from a form of arbitrage.
Only large institutional investors and hedge funds are capable of taking advantage of arbitrage opportunities. Because they're able to trade large blocks of shares, they can pocket millions in arbitrage profits even if the spread between two security prices is small (and it usually is just pennies).

If Joe sold all of those shares on Wednesday, before purchasing any more shares of Apple, then Joe has not made a day trade. On the other hand, Julie bought ten shares of Apple on Thursday, sells half of those shares on Thursday afternoon, and sells the last five shares Friday; Julie made a day trade.

In options trading, a buyer may purchase a short position (i.e. the expectation that the price will go down) on a security. This position gives the buyer the right to sell the underlying security at an agreed-upon price (i.e. the strike price) by a certain date. If the market price falls below the strike price, as expected, the buyer can decide to exercise his or her right to sell at that price and the writer of the option contract has the obligation to buy the security at the strike price. With the exercise of the put, the trader makes the difference between the cost of the security in the market (i.e. a lower price than the option strike price) and the sale of the option to the put writer (i.e. at the strike price).
A put option is a financial contract between the buyer and seller of a securities option allowing the buyer to force the seller (or the writer of the option contract) to buy the security.
Investors will often purchase a put option on shares they already own to act as a hedge against the decline in the share price. Puts and calls are the key types of options trading.
For example, if a trader purchases a put option contract for Company XYZ for $1 (i.e. $01/share for a 100 share contract) with a strike price of $10 per share, the trader can sell the shares at $10 before the end of the option period. If Company XYZ's share price drops to $8 per share, the trader can buy the shares on the open market and sell the put option at $10 per share (the strike price on the put option contract). Taking into account the put option contract price of $.01/share, the trader will earn a profit of $1.99 per share.
