The Effect of Debt on the Cost of Equity
Hey Robert…why are you so anti Robinhood? You seem to want to make everyone pay trading fees. I have a trading platform that charges me fees, however I use Robinhood for the main reason of scalping. I’ve also saved thousands on fees. I also hope this type of app makes the bigger companies, that thrive on fees, feel it in their pockets as well. I think Robinhood is a great way to have beginners, or traders who want to enjoy another side of the market, go about their business without having someone having their hand in their pocket every time they make any moves.
Been using Robinhood app for the past 2 months. Not a bad tool to get your feet wet if you are looking to try your hand at active trading. Definitely, need to use other resources for research. The biggest issue I have encountered is every so often, the app will experience a glitch that doesn’t let you submit an order (not to be confused with trade execution). Lost money on this twice so I intend to switch to another brokerage soon. Just recently, was set to pull $1500 on a one day hold on a penny stock and because of the glitch only made $280. Unforgivable in my opinion.
I’ve had an account with Robinhood for a few weeks. Although I would prefer to trade from my workstation, the app is well designed and is fine for making occasional trades during the day. Trade executions have been excellent, NBBO as far as I can tell.
This is a federal regulation, not a Robinhood only thing.
This is a great way to help my kids become more active investors. It makes small regular funding of an investment account easy. I hope they help the big firms cut their fees.
You can’t argue with free, but honestly I’m a little concerned that you’re a beginner investor and you did 60 trades in the last 6 months. That’s crazy and that’s trading/speculation – not investing. I’d be curious to know your strategy with such a small amount of capital being deployed on average.

There also exists a γδ-T-cell sub-population within the epidermal compartment of the skin of mice. Originally referred to as Thy-1+ dendritic epidermal cells (Thy1+DEC), 2 these cells are more commonly known as dendritic epidermal T cells (DETC). DETCs arise during fetal development and express an invariant and canonical Vγ3 Vδ1 T-cell receptor using Garman nomenclature . 3
Clearly, the complexity of gamma delta T cell biology spans definitions of both innate and adaptive immune responses.
These Vγ9Vδ2 T cells can also behave like professional antigen-presenting cells (APC). It seems that human Vγ9Vδ2 T cells are characterized by a specific inflammatory migration program, including multiple receptors for inflammatory chemokines (CXCR3, CCR1, CCR2 and CCR5). It means that the stimulation with IPP or HMB-PP induces migration to the lymphatic tissues, specifically to the T cell area of lymph nodes. So the stimulation of Vγ9Vδ2 T cells with phosphoantigens results in expression of multiple markers which are associated with APC, like MHC I and II molecules, co-stimulatory molecules (CD80, CD86) and adhesion receptors (CD11a, CD18, CD54). Thus activated Vγ9Vδ2 T cells behave like APCs (γδ T-APC) and present antigens to αβ T cells. This leads to turn of naïve CD4+ and CD8+ αβ T cells into effector cells. The differentiation, induced by γδ T-APC, most often led to T helper cell response, in the most of cases to pro-inflammatory Th1 response with subsequent production of IFN-γ and TNF-α. But in the case of a low γδ T-APC: CD4+ ratio it leads to differentiation of some naïve αβ T cells into Th2 (IL-4) or Th0 (IL-4 plus IFN-γ) cells. Human Vγ9Vδ2 T cells are also cells with excellent antigen cross-presentation activity, a process describing the uptake of exogenous antigen and its routing to the MHC I pathway for induction CD8+ cytotoxic T cells. Thus activated cytotoxic T cells can effectively kill infected or tumor cells. This fact can be used in the immunotherapy of cancer and infectious diseases. 13
Gamma delta T cells (γδ T cells) are T cells that have a distinctive T-cell receptor (TCR) on their surface. Most T cells are αβ (alpha beta) T cells with TCR composed of two glycoprotein chains called α (alpha) and β (beta) TCR chains. In contrast, gamma delta (γδ) T cells have a TCR that is made up of one γ (gamma) chain and one δ (delta) chain. This group of T cells is usually much less common than αβ T cells, but are at their highest abundance in the gut mucosa, within a population of lymphocytes known as intraepithelial lymphocytes (IELs). 1
Gamma delta T cells may be considered a component of adaptive immunity in that they rearrange TCR genes to produce junctional diversity and will develop a memory phenotype. However, the various subsets may also be considered part of the innate immunity 4 where a restricted TCR may be used as a pattern recognition receptor. 5 For example, according to this paradigm, large numbers of (human) Vγ9/Vδ2 T cells respond within hours to common molecules produced by microbes, and highly restricted intraepithelial Vδ1 T cells will respond to stressed epithelial cells bearing sentinels of danger.
IPP itself is structurally closely related to HMB-PP and ubiquitously present in all living cells (i.e. also in human cells), yet its potency in vitro is reduced 10,000 fold; whether IPP represents a physiological 'danger' signal of stressed or transformed cells is still unclear. Of pharmacological interest and with bioactivities comparable to that of IPP are synthetic aminobisphosphonates such as zoledronate (Zometa) or pamidronate (Aredia), that are widely used to treat osteoporosis and bone metastases, and incidentally act as Vγ9/Vδ2 T cell receptor agonists. However, increasing evidence suggests that these aminobisphosphonate 'antigens' are not recognised directly by Vγ9/Vδ2 T cells and in fact act indirectly, via their effects on the mevalonate biosynthetic pathway, leading to an accumulation of IPP. 12 Finally, certain alkylated amines have been described to activate Vγ9/Vδ2 T cells in vitro, however only at millimolar concentrations, i.e. with potencies 106-108fold lower than those of HMB-PP, thereby questioning their physiological relevance.

Be wary of signal providers that tell you how much you trade. For example some may tell you to trade 1 unit or 5 units on a given trade. If you typically risk $10 per trade, that would be 1 unit, and 5 units would be $50. Since a signal provider doesn’t know how much capital you have, or what your risk tolerance is, telling you how much to risk shows they don’t know much about risk management and they likely shouldn’t be providing advice to other traders. You should control how much you risk, it is your money.
Good binary options signal providers needs to be able to get clearly communicated signals to you in a timely fashion. You must receive the signal, be able to read it and understand it, and then have enough time to place the trade. If signals don’t come through in a timely or well communicated fashion, avoid those binary options signals providers. This is why it is nice to have the free trial period to check all this out.
Signal providers may advertise that they send out 3, 8, 15, 30, etcetera trades a day, but not all of these will end up being tradable. Often there are conditions attached to a trade signal, and if the market doesn’t meet those conditions then there is no trade. Try to find out how many actual trade signals are generated each day, and not just how many signals are set out.
If there is talk of bots, robots or EAs, tread carefully. These are automated programs, and therefore lack any sort of discretion when it comes to the trades signals they provide. This can be a good thing, since it takes the emotion out of trading, but unfortunately most bots are created using back tested data and then optimised on that data. Marketed results are usually not based on a long-history of live trading. While the marketer may promise that these bots adapt to all market conditions, this is generally not the case.
Signal providers come and go. Invest in yourself and teach yourself to trade, then you won’t ever be reliant on someone else to provide you with trades.

Looking to make quick cash capitalising on someone else’s expertise? Instead of learning how to read binary options charts, you may have considered paying a binary options signals provider to send you trade signals in the hopes of achieving big returns. Before you fork over your cash though there are a few things you should know. The following warning signs indicate that maybe you shouldn’t trust this binary options signal provider, either through giving them money or putting your capital at risk utilising their signals.
With AAPL trading around $210, your 210 puts have roughly a 50 delta. That means that each put you own is the equivalent of being short 50 shares of stock. So, right here, right now, owning 20 puts is the share equivalent of shorting 1,000 shares of AAPL. Since I’m physically long 1,000 shares of AAPL, my share equivalent position is 0, or flat.
Part of successfully managing a long gamma position involves making judgments as to whether we’re in a “trend” environment or a “range” environment.
There are two extreme ways to do this.
Gamma is used to measure the rate of change in an option’s delta as the underlying security (stock, ETF, index) moves. In a positional context, long gamma means your option position is such that if the stock rallies (or declines), your share equivalent position (also known as delta) gets you longer (or shorter).
Conversely, had AAPL declined a similar amount, and the delta of the puts increased to 60, I’d be the equivalent of short 200 AAPL shares (60 x 20) – 1,000.
I often mention the option Greek gamma, and refer to “long gamma” or “short gamma” when describing a position. I bet many of you wonder what exactly that means, and/or how to manage said position. So I’ll explain.
Let’s say you own 1,000 shares of Apple (AAPL) and you own 20 AAPL Feb 210 Puts.
For this particular example, let’s assume the volatility of the option remains static. In order to earn money on a long gamma position such as this, we need to offset our daily decay.
